The Central North Regional Police Command has arrested four inmates in connection with the death of a fellow inmate at the Twifo Praso Police Cells in the Central Region.
The deceased, George Anim, a 40 year old, was arrested on November 25, 2025 for allegedly defiling a 14 year old girl at Swedru Akuapem in the Assin Fosu Municipality.
He was subsequently transferred to the Twifo Praso Police Station for court processing.

However, on November 27, 2025, he was found dead in the cell he shared with other inmates under suspicious circumstances.
According to the family, visible bruises and blood stains were observed on the body during identification, raising strong suspicions of assault leading to his death.

In response, the Central North Regional Police Command, led by Regional Commander DCOP Abraham Acquaye, launched a full investigation into the matter following a visit to the family by a police delegation.
Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased may have been involved in a violent altercation with other inmates, which allegedly led to him being severely beaten.
Four fellow inmates have since been arrested as suspects and are expected to be arraigned before the court on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
