The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised two additional charges of rape against former Premier League midfielder Thomas Partey.
The 32-year-old, who currently plays for Spanish side Villarreal, is now facing a total of seven counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
These latest developments significantly intensify the legal proceedings against the Ghana international, who previously pleaded not guilty to six charges during an appearance at Southwark Crown Court in September 2025.
The alleged offences are reported to have occurred between 2021 and 2022. At the time, Partey was a prominent figure in North London, playing as a regular starter in the Premier League.
The legal process moved forward shortly after his departure from his London club. Following the expiry of his contract at the end of June last year, authorities formally charged him within four days of him becoming a free agent.
Partey is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 13 March, to address the two new accusations.
Despite the gravity of the charges, the midfielder remains on bail under strict conditions. His current bail terms require him to notify the police at least 24 hours before any international travel and maintain a total prohibition on contacting any of the complainants. He is currently scheduled to stand trial on 2 November.
The court has permitted Partey to continue his professional career while the legal process unfolds. After leaving England, he secured a move to La Liga, joining Villarreal as a free agent.
He also remains a key figure for the Ghana national team. The Black Stars are currently preparing for the 2026 World Cup this June, where they are drawn in a challenging group alongside England, Panama, and Croatia.
Under British law, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The charges against Partey have yet to be tested in a court of law.
