GES Interdicts Wovenu SHS Assistant Matron Over Alleged Food Diversion

The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Volta Region has interdicted an Assistant Matron of Wovenu Senior High School at Tadzewu over allegations of diverting food supplies meant for students.

The action follows the arrest of three individuals, including the Assistant Matron and a police officer, in connection with the alleged pilfering of food items belonging to the school.

Confirming the development in an interview with Citi News on Tuesday, February 17, Volta Regional Public Relations Officer of GES, Forgive Agoha, disclosed that preliminary investigations had revealed irregularities that warranted further criminal probe.

According to him, the Volta Regional Education Directorate requested an initial report immediately after the incident came to light, and the findings pointed to possible criminal conduct.

“Based on the preliminary report submitted, it was established that there was some element of criminality. The Ghana Police Service has therefore taken over the criminal aspect of the matter,” Agoha stated.

He further revealed that a committee has been set up to conduct a full-scale inquiry into the incident. The committee is expected to submit its findings and recommendations to the Regional Directorate within one week.

Agoha assured that the interdicted officer will remain off duty pending the outcome of investigations and emphasized that any individual found culpable will face the full rigours of the law.
