The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry has received with deep sorrow the tragic news of the killing of Ghanaian tomato traders in a terrorist attack at Titao in Northern Burkina Faso.
According to the statement, eight Ghanaian nationals have been confirmed dead, with others injured in this attack in a volatile security zone affected by extremist activity.
The Ministry condemned this act of violence against innocent traders engaged in legitimate commercial activities.
The Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, the Ministry of the Interior, and Ghana’s Diplomatic Mission, is working closely with the authorities in Burkina Faso to ensure that all survivors who have been evacuated receive necessary medical care and support.
The Ministry extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and the entire trading community.
Furthermore, the Government stands in solidarity with the victims and bereaved families during this difficult time and remains committed to providing appropriate assistance.
In collaboration with National Security Agencies and regional partners, the Government continues to strengthen cross-border security cooperation and safeguard the interests of Ghanaian traders operating within the sub-region.
The Ministry reassured the public of the Government’s unwavering commitment to protecting Ghanaian businesses and citizens, both at home and abroad.
