Ghanaian diplomats have visited the Black Queens in the United Arab Emirates to offer “unwavering support” as the team competes in the Pink Ladies Cup.
Officials from the Ghana Mission in the UAE met with players and technical staff to address safety concerns following recent unrest in parts of the Middle East.
The delegation, which included Consular Officer Percy Okudzeto and Head of Chancery Abdul-Jalil Sigli Yakubu Abdulai, moved to reassure the squad that their security remains the government’s “top priority” while they represent the nation abroad.
During an interactive session at the team’s base, Okudzeto told the players that the embassy is closely monitoring regional developments in coordination with local authorities.
“We want the team to stay calm and focus on the competition,” he said. “The government and the embassy are doing everything possible to ensure your safety and well-being.”
Abdulai echoed these sentiments, confirming that the mission is prepared to provide “immediate assistance” should the situation change during their stay.
The visit appears to have hit the right note with the squad. Team leadership described the diplomatic presence as “timely and uplifting,” noting that it has reinforced a sense of national solidarity.
The Black Queens are currently in the UAE for the Pink Ladies Cup, an international invitational tournament designed to test the side against high-level global opposition.
