The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 45-year-old man, Isaac Boafo, widely known on social media as “Duabo King,” for allegedly disseminating false information intended to incite fear and public panic.
In a statement issued on March 1, 2026, the Ashanti Regional Command of the Police confirmed that the suspect was picked up after a TikTok video he posted went viral. In the footage, Boafo alleged that four officers stationed at the Central Police Station in Kumasi engaged in misconduct with commercial sex workers during night patrols at Asafo.
Police said the arrest was carried out by officers from the Police Intelligence Directorate in the Ashanti Region, who acted on credible intelligence.
According to the statement, Boafo admitted during interrogation that he created and shared the video. He reportedly told investigators that he is a content creator and fabricated the claims in a bid to attract views and increase engagement on his social media platforms.
Police further indicated that the suspect was unable to provide any evidence to support the allegations made against the officers.
Investigators also revealed that Boafo acknowledged making separate comments about President John Dramani Mahama for content purposes, admitting he could not substantiate those remarks either.
The Police confirmed that Isaac Boafo has been formally charged and remains in custody to assist with ongoing investigations.
The Police Service cautioned the public against publishing or circulating unverified information, especially on social media platforms. It warned that false claims can generate unnecessary fear, damage reputations, and undermine public trust.
Authorities stressed that anyone found engaging in such conduct will face legal consequences in accordance with the law.
