The manager of Nigerian soulful singer Simi has dismissed viral reports suggesting that the artiste and her husband, Adekunle Gold, are heading for a divorce, describing the claims as false and fabricated.
Simi’s manager, Vincent, said the rumour widely circulated across social media stemmed from a fake document that was presented online as a divorce petition allegedly filed by Adekunle Gold.
The document, dated February 28, 2026, claimed that the couple’s marriage had “irretrievably broken down” and alleged prolonged emotional, financial, and professional control within the relationship. It further sought the dissolution of the marriage and proposed joint custody arrangements for their child. Some online reports also suggested that the supposed petition had been filed at the High Court of Lagos State.
Reacting to the document, Vincent pointed out several inconsistencies which he said clearly showed it was not genuine. According to him, the document contained technical legal errors that would not appear in an authentic court filing.
“It’s fake and fabricated. First, stage names are not tenable in any court of justice worldwide as indicated in the document. Even the suit number on the document is backdated to 2024 (SUIT NO HCL/FC/2024/0178),” he explained.
The rumours surfaced months after reports earlier in 2026 indicated that the couple had welcomed twins, a development that was widely celebrated by fans. The pair also recently marked their seventh wedding anniversary and shared heartfelt tributes to each other on social media.
Speculation about a possible split gained traction after old posts attributed to Simi resurfaced online, with some social media users interpreting them as hints of marital tension. Adekunle Gold’s recent return to social media following a short break also fueled further speculation among fans.
However, the singer’s management has firmly dismissed the claims, maintaining that the viral document is fabricated.
Simi and Adekunle Gold met as friends and collaborators before dating for several years. The couple eventually tied the knot in January 2019 and welcomed their first child, a daughter, Adejare—popularly known as Deja—in 2020.
