Ghana has successfully evacuated all its citizens in Israel who requested assistance to return home, according to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
In a statement shared on Facebook on Thursday, March 19, 2026, the Minister confirmed that the operation led to the safe return of affected Ghanaians, along with some staff from Ghana’s embassy in Tel Aviv.
He indicated that while most of the diplomatic personnel were withdrawn as part of the exercise, a limited number of essential staff have remained in Israel to continue providing critical consular services.
Ablakwa expressed appreciation to the Israeli and Egyptian authorities for their support and cooperation in ensuring the smooth execution of the evacuation.
He also extended a warm welcome to the evacuees, who arrived in Ghana shortly after the operation was concluded.
Reaffirming government’s commitment to protecting its citizens abroad, the Minister noted that evacuation measures will be sustained wherever necessary, stressing that the Mahama administration remains focused on safeguarding the welfare of all Ghanaians.
