Marrying a man without vision can delay your life – Sonnie Badu advises women

Ghanaian gospel musician and preacher Sonnie Badu has advised women to prioritise purpose and vision when choosing a life partner, cautioning that marrying a man without clear direction could slow personal progress.

In a video shared on Instagram, the US-based preacher emphasised the importance of aligning goals and purpose before committing to marriage. He urged women, in particular, to ensure their partners have a defined vision for their lives.

According to Sonnie Badu, a lack of purpose in a partner can affect the overall growth and direction of a marriage. He explained that during a recent marriage counselling session, he asked a groom whether he had a clear purpose and vision, stressing that marriage should not be pursued without these foundations.

“If you don’t have a purpose and a vision, don’t marry,” he said.

He further noted that, in many marriages, a woman often finds herself living out her dreams within the framework of her husband’s purpose. As a result, he encouraged women to carefully evaluate whether their ambitions align with their partner’s direction before settling down.

Sonnie Badu also stressed that emotional attachment alone should not be the sole basis for marriage, adding that shared vision and long-term alignment are essential for a successful union.

While he maintains that leadership in marriage rests with the man, he acknowledged that women play a significant role in supporting and strengthening their partner’s vision and overall success.
