‘My old jet will be used as an emergency ambulance for all Ghanaians’ – Ibrahim Mahama

Ghanaian businessman Ibrahim Mahama has announced plans to convert his old private jet into an air ambulance to serve the Ghanaian public, following the acquisition of a new luxury aircraft.

Speaking to reporters after officially receiving his newly acquired Bombardier Global 6500, Ibrahim Mahama revealed that his former jet would no longer be reserved for private use but instead repurposed for emergency services.

“My old jet will be used as an emergency ambulance for all Ghanaians,” he stated.

When a reporter sought clarification, appearing surprised by the announcement, Ibrahim Mahama reiterated his commitment.

“Yes, the aircraft will be used as an emergency craft for everyone, from all walks of life,” he emphasized.

On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the Chief Executive Officer of Engineers and Planners officially received the new jet at the Kotoka International Airport.

Although reportedly purchased in 2024, the aircraft was delivered in February 2026 and arrived in Ghana to a warm reception.

A video circulating on social media captured the jet, branded with the name “Dzata,” descending onto the runway before Mahama disembarked to cheers from supporters gathered at the airport.

The announcement to convert his former aircraft into an air ambulance has since sparked widespread conversation, with many Ghanaians expressing interest in how the initiative will be implemented and managed to benefit the public.
