Ghanaian gospel musician Brother Sammy has disclosed that his marriage to his France-based wife, Obaa Yaa, has officially ended.
The singer made the revelation during an appearance on the entertainment program United Showbiz on UTV Ghana on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
According to him, the decision to end the marriage was taken by his wife, stressing that he did not initiate the divorce.
“I haven’t ended my marriage. It is I who has been divorced,” he explained during the interview.
The gospel musician recounted that he first learned about the development while performing at a musical event in Manso during the Christmas period.
He said the head of his family called to inform him that the customary drinks used during their traditional marriage had been returned by his wife’s family from France, a traditional sign that the marriage had been dissolved.
According to him, his family initially refused to accept the returned drinks until they had spoken to him about the situation.
Brother Sammy added that after he returned home, both families arranged a meeting to discuss the issue. However, his wife did not attend the meeting in person and instead confirmed her decision to end the marriage during a phone conversation.
“During our conversations, they said that my wife instructed them to return the drinks,” he stated.
He further revealed that his wife did not provide any specific reason for her decision to end the marriage.
