Ghanaian musician Mzbel has expressed disappointment over her recent interaction with rapper Medikal, claiming he subtly insulted her in a song after declining a collaboration request.
Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz, Mzbel recounted that her attempt to feature Medikal on a track did not materialize, despite efforts to reach him both directly and through his wife.
According to her, the situation escalated when the rapper later released a song in which she believes she was referred to as an “old coin.”
“The last time I recorded a song, I wanted to feature someone, but the person declined. He later went on to release a song in which he insulted me, calling me an ‘old coin.’ It was Medikal,” she revealed.
Mzbel further explained that her attempts to contact the rapper were unsuccessful, prompting her to speak about the experience during an interview, an action she believes may have influenced the lyrical reference that followed.
Despite her disappointment, the singer was quick to commend Medikal’s talent, describing him as a skilled artiste with a unique and relatable style.
“He is the best because his songs are easy for people to understand. I am disappointed, but I am still open to working with him because I understand how the game works,” she said.
Mzbel added that she remains open to a future collaboration, noting that his rap style would complement her music, even as she continues to feel hurt by the incident.
