Shatta Wale hints at possible 2028 independent bid for Ablekuma South Constituency seat

Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale has revealed that he could venture into politics in the future if calls from the public intensify.

Speaking in an interview on Ekosii Sen on Asempa FM (94.7 FM), the award-winning artiste said he would consider contesting the parliamentary seat for the Ablekuma South Constituency in the 2028 general elections.

According to him, his potential entry into politics would not be motivated by wealth or personal gain but by a desire to serve the interests of the people.

“If people of Ablekuma South (Korle Gonno) call on me to enter politics, I will do it, but I am not coming into it because I am rich. Rather, I want to serve the interests of the people,” he said.

The outspoken musician also indicated that if he eventually decides to contest the seat, he would prefer to run as an independent candidate rather than align himself with any political party.

“I will contest the Ablekuma South seat, but I don’t want to belong to any political party. It will be more as an independent candidate. I would consider it if the calls intensify in 2028,” he added.
