The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening local production.
Speaking to the press, she emphasised the government’s aim to add value to raw materials produced in Ghana.
She stated that, together with the Finance Minister, she plans to engage with industries to identify their challenges and seek solutions, enabling the local processing of cocoa and other resources.
“Can you imagine what will happen to our employment front if 50 percent of our cocoa is produced right here and processed right here? I’m sure the answer is what you are thinking,” she stated.
Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu stressed that this approach is vital for creating jobs for young people and for significantly strengthening the economy.
“We are enjoying a strong seedy, and by doing this, we are even going to enjoy a stronger seedy,” she uttered.
Furthermore, she assured that the issues affecting industries would be addressed, highlighting that the agribusiness sector can fulfil its mandate effectively.
