Accra Great Olympics appoints Interim Management Committee after senior resignations

Accra Great Olympics have moved swiftly to overhaul their leadership, appointing an Interim Management Committee (IMC) following a week of high-profile departures.

The “Wonder Club” acted to fill the void left by outgoing CEO Kudjoe Fianoo and General Manager Eric Alagidede.

The dual resignations had threatened to destabilise the club’s campaign in the Division One League, prompting the board to install a veteran team to “steady the ship.”

The newly formed IMC brings a blend of legal expertise and seasoned football administration to the capital-based club. Leading the group is Nii Amartei Amarteifio, who takes the role of Chairman.

He is joined by a familiar face in Ghanaian football, Oloboi Commodore, who steps in as Executive Director.

Supporting them are Prof. Emmanuel Lamptey and Samuel Okai, who serve as committee members, while Livingston Agbodza takes charge of the day-to-day football operations as Team Manager.

In an official statement, the club leaned heavily on its traditional motto, “Together We Can,” signalling a plea for unity among the “Dade” faithful after a turbulent few days behind the scenes.

The administrative reshuffle comes at a pivot point in the season. With the backroom drama settled, the focus now shifts back to the pitch and the club’s ultimate goal: a return to the Ghana Premier League.

Great Olympics are currently finalising preparations for a high-stakes clash against Port City FC. This fixture is widely viewed as a “must-win” to maintain momentum in their promotion charge.

The match kicks off at 15:00 GMT this Sunday at the Ohene Park in Kukurantumi, where the new leadership will have an immediate opportunity to rally the playing body and technical staff.

Supporters will be looking for the IMC’s experience to translate into immediate stability, ensuring that the week’s off-field distractions do not derail the club’s ambitions for a top-flight return.

The board hopes this fresh start will provide the necessary focus to secure three vital points on the road.
