CID Arrests Two in Connection with Accra Jewellery Shop Robbery

The Ghana Police Service has arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery at a jewellery shop in Dzorwulu, Accra, following months of investigations.

The suspects, identified as Abubakar Mamoud and Mahmoud Abdul Aziz, also known as Justin Martin, were apprehended on February 24 at Anya in the Greater Accra Region by a team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, March 25, and signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, the CID confirmed that the arrests are linked to a robbery incident that occurred on September 11, 2025, near Nyaho Clinic.

According to police, the attack involved two armed men who arrived on a motorbike and targeted the jewellery shop. The assailants reportedly assaulted a shop attendant, damaged the glass entrance, and made away with assorted jewellery.

Investigators revealed that a search conducted at the suspects’ residences led to the retrieval of items believed to have been used in the operation. These include a hammer, black face mask, toy pistol, gold detector, gold weighing scale, diamond detector, backpack, hand gloves, helmet, and two motorbikes.

Police further disclosed that during interrogation, the suspects admitted their involvement in the robbery and mentioned an individual identified only as Eddy, based in Oyarifa, as the alleged receiver of the stolen items.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the said individual.

The suspects remain in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before court on Thursday, March 26, 2026, while investigations continue.
