Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Dr. Jacob Amankware, has stated that no National Democratic Congress (NDC) government appointee is involved in illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
He said the government required appointees to sign a bond stipulating that anyone found to be involved in illegal mining or corrupt practices would be terminated.
Dr Amankware urged Ghanaians to be reassured that President Mahama is not covering up any facts and is being honest.
“We should be happy as a people that the first gentleman of the land is not covering up the truth. President Mahama is known for his honesty and straightforwardness.
“We have signed; each government appointee has signed a bond. Now the president said if he gets anyone, any government appointee, involved in illegal mining or any corrupt practice, you will go.
“There is no second chance for any government appointee, unlike the previous regime where the president himself was a clearing agent for some of these things,” he stated during an interview on GHOne TV.
