Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has delighted fans with adorable throwback moments from her childhood, boldly declaring that she has always known who she was destined to be.
The Mavin Records star took to her Instagram page to share a nostalgic video of herself as a child, confidently affirming that her vibrant personality has always been part of her identity.
“I knew exactly who I was at a very young age. lmaoooo I’ve been active,” she wrote.
Her post quickly sparked reactions from fans and followers, many of whom praised her self-awareness and early confidence. Since stepping into the spotlight, Ayra Starr has steadily carved a name for herself in the global music scene. In 2025, she made history at the MOBO Awards, winning Best African Music Act and Best International Music Act. She triumphed over global stars including Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, Tems and Latto.
In her emotional acceptance speech, the singer expressed gratitude to her team and supporters, noting that it was her first MOBO win.
The ‘Commas’ hitmaker also secured a nomination for Best New Artist at the BET Awards and previously received a nomination at the Grammy Awards — a significant milestone in her blossoming career.
In a sit-down interview with Spotify, Ayra revealed that she had long envisioned fame for herself. According to her, by the age of 10, she believed she would become famous like Hannah Montana, even though she did not yet understand how it would happen.
Her journey to stardom began when Don Jazzy, founder of Mavin Records, discovered her on Instagram. Impressed by her creativity and youthful energy, he reached out to her via direct message. However, when she did not respond immediately, he contacted her brother to establish communication — a move that would eventually change the trajectory of her career.
