‘I wrote 90% of mary album by Sarkodie’ – Akwaboah

Ghanaian singer and songwriter Akwaboah has revealed the extent of his contribution to rapper Sarkodie’s popular album, Mary.

Speaking in an interview on Aluta FM, a clip of which was shared on Instagram on February 24, 2026, Akwaboah disclosed that he wrote about 90 percent of the songs on the project.

“I did 90% of Mary’s album. I wrote almost every song. I think I only didn’t work on two songs on the album. I also produced the album,” he stated.

The musician also used the opportunity to address rumours suggesting that Sarkodie failed to acknowledge his efforts on a previous project.

He described the claims as untrue and clarified that his earlier comments had been misinterpreted.

According to Akwaboah, a statement he made previously was focused on his personal growth as an artist and was not intended to slight the award-winning rapper.

“The statement I made was about my growth as an artist; it was not about Sarkodie. No one should go looking for trouble between Sarkodie and me,” he cautioned.

The revelation has sparked renewed conversation among fans about the creative process behind the Mary album and Akwaboah’s longstanding collaboration with Sarkodie.
