Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwaku Manu has shed light on the difficulties many actors face in maintaining stable marriages due to the nature of their profession.
Speaking during an appearance on United Showbiz on UTV Ghana, the Kumawood star explained that certain movie roles, especially romantic scenes, can sometimes create tension between actors and their partners.
According to him, kissing scenes in films often become a source of misunderstanding when actors watch their movies with their spouses or partners.
“Sometimes when an actor is watching his or her own movie with a partner while playing a kissing role, it brings problems at home,” he stated.
Kwaku Manu added that in many cases actors shoot films long before they get married, but those movies may only be released after they have settled down, which can create confusion for their partners.
“It could be that when the actor shot the movie, he wasn’t married yet, but by the time the movie comes out, the partner would already be there,” he explained.
He further noted that the demanding nature of acting can also put pressure on relationships if partners do not fully understand the profession.
The actor explained that filming schedules can be very time-consuming, sometimes leaving little time for family, which may lead to disagreements at home.
In addition, he pointed out that the constant public attention on celebrities can further complicate their personal lives, as people often monitor their movements and share information about them with their partners.
According to him, these challenges sometimes make some industry players believe that sustaining a marriage within the entertainment industry can be difficult.
