Ghanaian musician Mzbel has expressed disappointment with the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stating that she feels overlooked despite her active support during the party’s campaign.
In a video shared on TikTok on March 22, 2026, the “16 Years” hitmaker lamented that since the NDC returned to power, she has not been given opportunities to perform at government-sponsored events.
According to her, she was not seeking political appointments but had expected to be considered for paid performances in line with her profession as a musician.
“I am crying because my government is in power, yet they have not given me any work. I’m not even referring to appointments or office roles because I don’t have time for that. I am a musician, and this government has hosted numerous entertainment events,” she said.
Mzbel questioned why she has not been featured at such events, emphasizing that her expectation was simply to be given the platform to perform after actively campaigning for the party.
She also addressed circulating rumours suggesting that the NDC had purchased a house and a car for her, firmly denying the claims.
“No party has bought me a house or a car. The house I live in was built by me, and I bought my own car,” she clarified, adding that all her assets are the result of her personal efforts.
The artiste further noted that the absence of performance opportunities makes such claims unfounded, insisting that she has not received any financial or material benefits from the party.
