President John Dramani Mahama has withdrawn the appointment of Gideon Aryeequaye as Acting Executive Secretary of Ghana’s Creative Arts Agency.
According to a report by Joy Entertainment, Aryeequaye has not yet been reassigned to a specific portfolio within the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, where he is expected to serve following the withdrawal of his earlier appointment.
Aryeequaye was appointed Acting Executive Secretary of the Creative Arts Agency in March 2025, a move that was widely discussed within Ghana’s creative industry at the time. His tenure, however, has now come to an abrupt end following the President’s decision.
Before his appointment to the creative arts sector, Aryeequaye built a strong reputation in Ghana’s media landscape. He is well known for his work as a television news anchor at TV3 Ghana and previously served as Head of News at E.TV Ghana. He also gained nationwide recognition as host of the popular reality show Ghana Most Beautiful on TV3.
Beyond broadcasting, Aryeequaye has experience in tourism administration. From January 2014 to 2017, he served as Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC), where he played a role in promoting tourism development initiatives across the country.
Politically, Aryeequaye is known to be an active member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). In 2012, he contested in the party’s parliamentary primaries for the Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfrom constituency but was unsuccessful.
