Afia Schwarzenegger criticizes Ga-Dangme leaders over summoning of Abusuapanin Tupac in Daddy Lumba burial dispute

Ghanaian media personality Afia Schwarzenegger has reacted strongly to the decision by the office of the Nuumo Borketey Laweh Tsuru, the spiritual overlord of the Ga-Dangme people, to summon Abusuapanin Tupac over the burial of highlife legend Daddy Lumba.

The summons follows reports that Daddy Lumba was buried at his private residence in Accra, a move some traditional authorities claim violates Ga customs. The family head, Abusuapanin Tupac, was therefore invited to appear before the overlord to address the matter.

Reacting in a video circulating online, Afia Schwarzenegger criticized the move and questioned the manner in which the summons was issued.

“How can you just set a date and summon someone without considering the person’s schedule? What if the person was busy on the said date?” she asked.

Afia also dismissed suggestions that authorities could exhume the late musician’s body, insisting that such an action would not be easy under Ghanaian law.

“They can’t exhume Daddy Lumba’s body like that. There are laws in this country that forbid people from just storming someone’s house without permission,” she said.

She further argued that Daddy Lumba would not be the first prominent Ghanaian to be buried at a private residence, mentioning figures such as Peter Adjetey and Komla Dumor.

Afia Schwarzenegger also swore by the seat of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II while making her remarks, insisting that the Ga community might not be able to carry out the threatened exhumation.
