The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Assin North, Sylvester Amakye‑Nyakoh, has cautioned beneficiaries of the Persons with Disabilities (PWD) support programme against selling the items provided to them.
Mr Amakye‑Nyakoh delivered the warning during a distribution ceremony at Assin Akropong‑Odumase, where the District Assembly presented livelihood support items to 58 beneficiaries and less‑privileged students from across the district.
The event formed part of the Assembly’s broader effort to bolster the welfare of vulnerable groups.
He emphasised that the intervention is intended to enhance self‑reliance, dignity and inclusion for PWDs, creating opportunities for economic independence and improved living conditions.
The items provided included cash grants, ice chests and deep freezers, cocoa spraying machines, hairdryers, fufu‑pounding machines and many more.
He further said the initiative is part of the government’s efforts to promote inclusive development and improve the lives of those most in need.
Beneficiaries were strongly urged to use the items for their intended purposes and not to dispose of them.
“The fridge is for selling water, not for resale. cocoa spraying machine is meant for spraying cocoa, don’t sell it and later claim you are in need,” he advised.
He warned that selling the items undermines the aim of the programme and deprives both the seller and the community of the intended long‑term benefits.
“Use what has been given to you for the right purpose. This way, when you need help again, we can support you,” he added.
Mr Amakye‑Nyakoh concluded by assuring those who did not receive assistance on this occasion that there would be further opportunities in the future, urging patience and proper use of current support to maximise community impact.
