Kwaw Kese: ‘I wanted to be a lawyer’ — Rapper reflects on academic excellence and career dreams

Ghanaian rapper Kwaw Kese, born Emmanuel Kofi Botwe, has revealed that he was one of the top students in English and Fante during his time at Winneba Secondary School, and once dreamed of becoming a lawyer.

Speaking on Prime Time on Joy Prime, the artiste opened up about his academic background and early ambitions.

“I wanted to be a lawyer,” Kwaw Kese said during the interview. “I was very good in English and Fante.”

However, he admitted that French was a challenge for him due to his experience with his teacher at the time. “The only problem I had was with my French teacher. The French teacher didn’t have that aura, so whenever he was teaching, it became boring,” he explained.

Kwaw Kese also stirred conversation when he stated that he would have defended Wendy Shay if he had pursued law. “I will defend Wendy Shay if I was a lawyer because her body is nice,” he said, adding that he would also represent other artistes including Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Black Sherif, Gyakie, MzVee, and Ms. Bell.

Explaining his choice of Shatta Wale, he said, “I would try and defend a crazy guy like Shatta Wale. He is stubborn and I would defend stubbornness — perhaps Shatta Wale is my son.”

Beyond academics and music, Kwaw Kese described himself as a traditionalist and herbalist. “I pour libation. I communicate with ‘Otweduanpon Asaase Yaa,’” he stated.
