Abidjan signals readiness to host 10th AFRIMA as stakeholders rally behind Africa’s premier music awards

Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, has declared its readiness to host a future edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) following a successful Road to the 10th Edition Media and Stakeholders’ Parley held on February 18, 2026.

The event, which followed an earlier engagement in Dar es Salaam, brought together government officials, creative industry leaders, artistes and media practitioners to discuss collaboration and opportunities ahead of the 10th edition of Africa’s premier music awards.

Serge Akpatou, Deputy Director General of BURIDA, said AFRIMA continues to add value to Africa’s creative ecosystem by promoting artistes and strengthening intellectual property awareness. He noted that Abidjan has the capacity and cultural depth to host the awards.

Representing the Minister of Culture and Francophonie, Mr Hein Sie described AFRIMA as a tool for cultural diplomacy and economic growth, stressing Côte d’Ivoire’s commitment to supporting initiatives that position the country as a creative powerhouse.

Members of the AFRIMA International Committee, including Jury representative Messie Mboukou, assured stakeholders of a transparent and independently audited adjudication process supervised by the African Union.

The parley also featured winners of the 9th AFRIMA, who shared testimonies of how the platform has expanded their international reach.

The 9th edition of AFRIMA was held in Lagos, Nigeria, with preparations underway for the milestone 10th edition.
