Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has publicly criticised popular streamers Carterefe and Peller following a controversial livestream in which the pair damaged each other’s cars.
The incident occurred on Saturday night during a livestream that left viewers shocked as the two content creators smashed the windscreens of their respective vehicles in what appeared to be a staged stunt. The act quickly drew backlash online, with many social media users accusing them of promoting violence and toxic behaviour for entertainment.
Boniface joined the conversation by calling Carterefe during his own livestream to express his disapproval. “What you and Peller did is rubbish. You are currently on livestream, I want to talk to you privately. Let me know when you are done streaming,” the footballer said over the phone.
Carterefe appeared remorseful following the rebuke from the Bayer Leverkusen forward.
Despite that, criticism has continued to trail the stunt, with many warning that such actions could encourage dangerous copycat behaviour. Some users also referenced past incidents in other countries where similar reckless acts reportedly resulted in tragic consequences.
