The auditorium of Alpha Hour convener Pastor Elvis Agyemang was set ablaze on the evening of February 9, 2026, after a woman allegedly poured petrol on chairs near the altar and ignited them.
According to information released by Pastor Elvis, CCTV footage captured the suspect entering the auditorium and pretending to pray before carrying out the act. Chairs positioned close to the altar were set on fire.
The woman was arrested immediately at the scene, preventing the fire from spreading further.
In the aftermath of the incident, Pastor Elvis announced the indefinite suspension of all in-person prayer sessions at the church auditorium, citing security concerns.
He expressed shock over the incident and questioned what could drive someone to attempt to burn down a place of worship.
“How much hatred can you have? Are you a saint? How much hatred would make you pick fuel, petrol, sprinkle it in a church and set it on fire? Unfortunately, if you don’t know, a lady tried to set the whole church on fire yesterday evening. She came around as though she was praying in the auditorium,” he said.
Pastor Elvis also disclosed that the church had experienced a similar security incident in 2025, when an individual sprayed powder inside the auditorium.
He explained that this earlier attack led to restrictions around the altar area, limiting public access to prevent further incidents.
“That is why the altar is mostly restricted. Nobody is allowed to touch it, though people can stand around it,” he noted.
Commenting on the incident, the Alpha Hour convener described the act as a manifestation of spiritual hostility, suggesting that hatred was being fueled by negative influences.
“These are all signs of demons feeding on humans, making them hate people who are loving them,” he added.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
